Evergreen Park

119 acres. The city’s second-largest park after the Nature Center, and almost nobody from I-10 has heard of it.

Evergreen Park

1530 Evergreen Road. City GIS: 119 acres — bigger than Jenkins, a fraction of the Nature Center, and quiet in the way a park on the east side of town is quiet. This is not a festival lawn. It is acreage.

Bring water. Bug spray. Do not expect a splash pad and a concession. Parks: (281) 420-6597. If Jenkins is the Saturday crowd, Evergreen is the walk you take when you want the land without the peninsula gate fee.

Local tip. Second-largest city park. Not a programmed destination — go for the land.
