About the images

Some of the illustrations on this site are generated editorial art — pictures made for us, of the kind of place and weather and work this town is made of, not photographs of the places named on the page. They appear only as section art on guides, essays, living pages and neighbourhood pages, never on a listing for a business, school, church or facility. Every photograph of a real place carries its own credit line with the photographer, the licence and where it came from.

The three kinds of picture here

  • Photographs of real places (570) — Wikimedia Commons, Flickr and other Creative Commons or public-domain photographs, each credited on the page it appears on (author, licence, source), and listed on the attribution page.
  • Generated editorial art (201) — made with Grok Imagine for HERE Baytown; no third-party rights, no real person, no real sign. A page carrying one says so in its footer. These never stand in for a photograph of a named place.
  • Site illustrations (52) — the earlier in-house illustrations on category pages and listings that have no photograph yet, disclosed in the site footer.

Licence text for generated art: "Generated image — no third-party rights"; author "Generated for HERE Baytown"; source "Grok Imagine". The build fails if any published image lacks a complete provenance chain (source, author, licence, licence URL).
